Itinerary
Day 1 –
Arrival in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
Arrive in Rio de Janeiro, the "cidade maravilhosa". After immigration,
you will be met by your guide and transferred to the Hotel. Rest of the
day at leisure.
After
Breakfast, you will have a half-day tour to the most famous Rio
mountain: Sugar Loaf. A two-stage cable car will bring you to the top of
Sugar Loaf Mountain, where you will have an astonishing view of the
city. After a time, you will descend the mountain on the cable car and
begin your tour of the City. You will see Flamengo Park and Downtown,
visit the Metropolitan Cathedral, see Rio's architectural monuments,
pass by Maracană Soccer Stadium and Rodrigo de Freitas Lagoon, then
return to your hotel. At night, you will enjoy a fun outing to a
“churrascaria” for a feast of barbecued meats marinated and roasted over
charcoal in true Brazilian style, followed by a samba show where the
vitality of Brasil explodes in a colorful extravaganza.
Day 3 – Rio de Janeiro.
Following a Brazilian
Breakfast at the hotel, depart for a half-day tour of Corcovado and "Floresta
da Tijuca". From the top of the peak of Corcovado, Christ the Redeemer (
Cristo Redentor) stands watch over one of most spectacular views in the
world. Tijuca forest, it's exuberance and beauty. We will continue to
Barra da Tijuca and southern Rio beaches. Return to the hotel. Rest of
the day at leisure.
Day 4 – Rio
de Janeiro – Iguassu Falls.
Fly to Iguassu. The afternoon
is dedicated to enjoying the magnificent panorama of waterfalls. The
spectacle of this two-mile-wide torrential downpour–with some cataracts
as high as 250 feet–is nothing short of hypnotic. The clouds of spray,
the incessant roar, and the surrounding luxuriant tropical growth make
this an unforgettable natural wonder.
Day 5 –
Iguassu Falls.
A morning tour of the Argentine side of the
falls. The afternoon is free. You may want to visit Itaipu Dam. This
gigantic hydroelectric plant is an impressive feat of engineering.
Day 6 – Iguassu Falls
– Manaus
After breakfast, we transfer to the airport for your
flight to Manaus.
Manaus is located in the densest part of the Amazon Jungle. Rest of the
day at leisure.
Day 7 – Manaus
Your city tour starts driving a journey of 12 miles along
the Ponta Negra following the Negro River into the city center. We will
visit the Municipal Market, built at the beginning of the century.
Inside its metallic structure we can find regional products: fish,
fruits and herbs. Afterwards, we will pass by the Government Palace, and
take a view of the nearby creek with the typical houses on stilts (palafitas).
Then, we will visit the Indian museum, belonging to the Salesian Roman
Catholic Nuns, Where we can appreciate some of the culture of the local
upper Rio Negro tribes. Our final destination: the Amazon Opera House,
the main symbol from the golden ages of the rubber boom, inaugurated in
1896. Due to a restoration done of few year ago, it has kept all the
splendor from that period. Return to Tropical Hotel. Rest of the day at
leisure.
Day 8 – Manaus
Departure from the Tropical Hotel’s pier going down
stream on the Negro River along the left bank, passing in front of the
city, Manaus Floating Harbor, the Municipal Market and the meeting of
the Solimoes and Negro Rivers (The meeting of the Waters) to form the
Amazonas River, with the possibility to see botos (fresh water
dolphins). Afterwards visit January Ecological reserve, where it’s
possible to see the famous water lilly, an aquatic plant, natural from
lakes in the rain forest.
There is a handicraft fair too, where caboclos produce souvenirs and
crafts with the same materials like feathers, bones and seeds used by
the Indian’s of the region.
Lunch is included: tambaqui soup and pirarucu a Milanese, both very well
known regional fish. As an optimal, we have chicken-served on the
floating restaurant. By motorized canoe, we take an unforgettable ride
in the channels and creeks (depending on the water level), and than
returning to the Tropical Hotel.
Day 9 – Manaus
A visit to the waterfalls of Presidente Figueiredo (with
lunch). Departure from Tropical Hotel at 09:00 AM to Presidente
Figueiredo, a small city 107 km far from Manaus, where we will visit the
ecological reserves of Iracema and Santuario with one of the most
beautiful waterfalls, where forest and waterfall get together in harmony
with the live and exuberant nature through fauna and flora.
Day 10 – Manaus – Salvador
After breakfast, we transfer to the
airport for your flight to Salvador. Arrival and rest of the day at
leisure.
Day 11 – Salvador
Historic city tour starts at the Farol da Barra and then
works its way into the upper city and to the Pelourinho. Rest of the day
at leisure.
Day 12 - Salvador
After breakfast, the panoramic tour which highlights the
lower city and offers visits to the famous Church of Bonfim and the
Mercado Modelo, the biggest center of handicrafts in Bahia. Rest of the
day at leisure.
Day 13 – Salvador –
USA
Free Day, and transfer to the
airport for your return flight. |
